New to the area?Or simply searching for an exceptional barber?Step into the timeless tradition of a classic barbershop, where every visit includes a precision haircut and a smooth straight-razor neck shave.Master Barber Cheri Wittcop has devoted nearly five decades to her craft, beginning in 1975. She earned her cosmetology license while still in high school and cut hair alongside her mother in their family salon in St. Joseph, Michigan. From there she managed her own salon, constantly refining her skills and staying ahead of emerging styles and techniques.In 2010, Cheri made the transition to barbering in Virginia Beach, earning her barber’s license and serving a diverse clientele that included active-duty military, local police and fire personnel, businessmen, and families. She became known for everything from record numbers of flawless flat tops to the latest fades and every traditional gentlemen’s and children’s cut in between.In 2015, Cheri opened Yankee Clippers Barbershop in Augusta, Georgia. That same year her husband, Shaun Wittcop, began his apprenticeship under her guidance. He quickly mastered the art and now works side-by-side with her, delivering the same level of excellence.In 2023, Cheri’s daughter, Kat Capone, joined the shop after moving from Las Vegas, Nevada. Fresh out of barber school, Kat believed she was the third generation in the family trade—until Cheri surprised her with their great-great-grandfather’s original barber shears, revealing that Kat is actually the fifth generation to carry on the legacy. Kat's station now displays those historic shears.Rounding out the team are Al Genao, a 24-year United States Marine Corps veteran, and David Dunlap, the youngest member of the crew, whose extraordinary attention to detail sets every cut apart.At Yankee Clippers, we’re committed to preserving the authentic old-time barbershop experience: a warm, welcoming atmosphere where conversation flows easily, and every guest leaves with a cut that perfectly marries timeless craftsmanship with today’s sharpest looks—finished, of course, with a classic straight-razor shave.
